FAQ

FAQ

Why intention?
We say intention is our invitation in and then we get the opportunity to be intentional with our intention and that is where the fun, play and expression begins... how will you be intentional with your intention? (our wares are here to support this!)
Why Copper?
Copper has been cherished for centuries for its unique properties and timeless appeal, making it an ideal choice for jewellery. One of the most notable characteristics of copper is its excellent conductivity, symbolizing energy flow and connectivity. This makes our pieces more than just accessories; they are conduits of energy, enhancing the wearer's connection to the world around them. The warm, earthy hue of copper also adds a touch of elegance and sophistication, and copper develops a beautiful patina over time, adding character and depth to each piece, making it truly unique to the wearer.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, copper may offer health benefits. Known for its antimicrobial properties, copper can help reduce infections and support a healthier lifestyle. Ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians and Greeks, utilized copper for its healing properties - a tradition that continues today. Wearing copper jewellery is believed to promote overall well-being, including improved joint health and reduced inflammation. Our signature copper pieces are not just beautiful; they may enhance your physical and mental health, reflecting our commitment to holistic wellness.

Furthermore, copper is an environmentally friendly material. Not on is copper 100% recyclable, it can be recycled over and over without ever losing its properties - making it a sustainable choice for conscientious consumers. The production of copper jewellery generates less environmental impact compared to other metals, aligning with our dedication to eco-friendly practices. By choosing our copper jewellery, you are not only embracing a piece of history and health but also supporting sustainable artisanry that respects our planet.
Why does copper tarnish?
Copper tarnishes as a result of reacting with oxygen from the air. This process forms copper oxide, which will continue to react with oxygen over time. As copper oxide forms, it reacts with carbon dioxide and water in the air, coating the surface of the copper with that iconic blue-green patina colour.
How to keep my copper from tarnishing?
To prevent copper from tarnishing, limit its exposure to air. Storing it in a plastic bag can be effective, although not very environmentally friendly. Other ways to reduce exposure to air include keeping your copper jewellery in the container it came in or wrapping it in a soft cloth. This will reduce the amount of oxygen the copper is exposed to and slow the tarnishing process.

If you do not put your copper piece in a container, than hanging your copper piece vs setting it down in a box or pile, can maintain it's look while also giving you a visual touchpoint to remind yourself of your intention.

How do I clean my copper to restore to shiny state?
There are products available that can help prevent tarnishing by creating a protective layer on the copper. These include wax, spray, or liquid sealants. Cleaning sealed copper can be done by simply wiping it down with a microfiber cloth. You can also add cleaning with some warm, soapy water. Other products can help clean copper that has tarnished. See our Copper Care page.
How often do I need to take care of my copper?
This is a personal choice of look and feel and preference. We recommend taking intentional time every 2 months to sit, be with and tend your copper. (You can even set a scheduled time in your calendar and utilize this opportunity as a touch point to take stock in your life and ask yourself what is important to you and what are you grateful for.)
Where are your products made?
All of our product materials are intentionally sourced as local and ethically as possible. All the making happens locally in Victoria, British Columbia with craftmanship, community and people forwarding in mind.
