We invite you in.to cultivating a beautiful relationship with your copper and intention ware. Taking care of your copper gets to be an opportunity to play and practice with the world of intention and setting your intention with your piece while nourishing yourself with regulating benefits of slowing down, being now and with your copper and all that it provides.
We love our copper here at intention wares; the look, the feel, the body, mind and spirit benefits and the conduit of energy it is. We have gone through great lengths to source quality and mindful copper. All of our copper comes 'vibed' with a polished look. It will still tarnish though tarnishing will be a slower process. All of our wares are intentionally created to be utilized and played with in a variety of ways and even the look of your copper can be played with. Some people find they love the lightly tarnished copper colour while others love theirs shiny always, so how often you care for your copper is a matter of personal choice. We recommend taking intentional time every 2 months to sit, be with and tend your copper. (You can even set a scheduled time in your calendar and utilize this opportunity as a touch point to take stock in your life and ask yourself what is important to you and what are you grateful for.)

Why does copper tarnish?
Copper tarnishes as a result of reacting with oxygen from the air. This process forms copper oxide, which will continue to react with oxygen over time. As copper oxide forms, it reacts with carbon dioxide and water in the air, coating the surface of the copper with that iconic blue-green patina color.
How to keep copper from tarnishing?
To prevent copper from tarnishing, limit its exposure to air. Storing it in a plastic bag can be effective, although not very environmentally friendly. Other ways to reduce exposure to air include keeping your copper jewelry in the container it came in or wrapping it in a soft cloth. This will reduce the amount of oxygen the copper is exposed to and slow the tarnishing process.
How to clean copper to restore its shiny state
There are products available that can help prevent tarnishing by creating a protective layer on the copper. These include wax, spray, or liquid sealants. Cleaning sealed copper can be done by simply wiping it down with a microfiber cloth and warm soapy water. Other products can help clean copper that has tarnished.

- Baking Soda: Make a thick paste by mixing several teaspoons of baking soda with a bit of water. Spread the paste onto the copper jewelry and scrub with a toothbrush to remove tarnish. Rinse with warm water and dry with a cloth.
- Lemon: Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle with salt. Scrub the copper with the salted lemon, rinse with warm water, and dry with a cloth. Alternatively, soak the copper in a mixture of water diluted with a teaspoon of lemon juice and salt for about an hour, then brush with a soft toothbrush to remove tarnish before rinsing.
- Vinegar and Salt: Pour one cup of white vinegar and one tablespoon of salt into a small pot. Place copper jewelry into the pot and bring the solution to a boil on medium heat for five minutes. Turn off the heat and let the jewelry sit in the solution overnight. The next day, place the jewelry in a bowl of warm water, gently scrub off any dirt with a toothbrush, rinse thoroughly with cold water, and pat dry.
